On Thursday Sue Webber MSP asked the Scottish Government whether it will comment on the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland’s report “Authority to discharge”.
Sue accused the Scottish Government of a failure to protect Scotland's most vulnerable people, both in unlawful moves and in the movement into care homes of patients who had tested positive for Covid-19. The findings in the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland’s report exposed “endemic examples of poor practice”, in Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs) around the country, some of which pre-dated the pandemic.
The Mental Welfare Commission has found that vulnerable people were unlawfully moved from hospitals to care homes during the pandemic. The SNP must finally listen to the Scottish Conservative calls and conduct an immediate public inquiry to give families the answers they deserve.
